Vanuatu stays on top of COVID

30 November 2020
Vanuatu's strict quarantine measures have done their job, and we continue to work hard behind the scenes readying the foundation for some big upcoming announcements.

Spring is almost done and although we weren’t able to run Spring Film this year, there’s been plenty happening to keep us busy.

Despite Vanuatu recording its first case of coronavirus from an overseas traveller, it seems that the country’s strict quarantine measures have done their job and halted any potential spread swiftly and effectively.

We’d like to welcome Leigh Elton, who joins the MJF team as Acting Health Manager while Ashlee Jewson takes a short leave of absence to prepare for her upcoming paediatric examination. Until coronavirus struck, Leigh was working in the Emergency Department at Vila Central Hospital and was instrumental in the planning of our Emergency Essentials campaign mid-year. We wish Ashlee all the best for the months ahead and extend a very warm welcome to Leigh.

A surprise fundraising effort by St. John’s Lutheran School (Portland) saw $2,340 raised for the Vila Central Hospital Emergency Department. A stunning job by students and staff alike! Thank you.

We are also grateful this quarter for the support of Geelong-based company Mid City Trophies. Emma and Brian were super helpful when we approached them with our engraving requirements and very kindly engraved a set of infant and adult stethoscopes as well as 8 sphygmomanometers at no cost to the Foundation. They do beautiful work and we have no hesitation in recommending them for any of your engraving or trophy needs!

We continue to work hard behind the scenes with planning, administration, logistics and branding, readying the foundation for some big announcements we hope we’ll be able to share with you soon. The MJF Board meets regularly and we’ll be doing strategic review and evaluation at our meeting next week.
