The board met in February on a very warm Saturday afternoon in Melbourne.

FUNDRAISERS

  • We set a date of November 2nd for the Open Gardens in Bannockburn and the sub-committee is continuing to plan all the details with suggestions for the day to include musicians, Devonshire Tea, stalls and guest speakers.
  • The Quince stall was scheduled for the Bannockburn Farmer’s Market from the first Saturday in April with all proceeds to be donated to the Foundation.

HOSPITAL

  • Chapel maintenance requirements are a concern for the Board and further liaison needs to continue with the live-in managers to clarify the role of the Foundation in supporting the chapel. Possibilities for a work party to be explored with the hospital.
  • The Constitution has been drawn up for the Friends of Vanuatu and the relationship with Flinders University is developing. The hospital is also in need of crutches.

EDUCATION

  • Agreed to explore the possibilities of an Artist in Residence to work in the East Vila School to create a book with the children which focuses on their culture.

GENERAL

  • Updates to the Vision and Mission statements. It was sad to receive the news from Tim Edwards that he can no longer be part of the Board. We wish Tim every blessing in his chaplaincy work and will look forward to his involvement with specific projects on the future.
