16 November 2013
300 people visit local gardens and raise $11,000.
in NEWS: Foundation

On Saturday November 2nd we opened four gardens in Bannockburn to raise funds to support the work of the Melanie Jewson Foundation in Port Vila. The weather was beautiful, and everything ran very smoothly throughout the day.

Over 300 people came to enjoy  a stroll through each of the four gardens, not to mention Devonshire tea, a plant and produce stall and the guest speakers John Tantau from Moorabool Valley Wildflowers, Lloyd Stanway from Eco-Generation Sutherlands Creek and Annarita Di Rienzo from Batesford Global Greening.

Open Gardens – Open Hearts was a huge success for the Foundation and we raised approximately $11,000 which was used to purchase a Diathermy Unit for the operating theatre at Vila Central hospital.

We are also very pleased to announce that the Diathermy Unit will be delivered to the freight company on Tuesday 10th December for shipment to Port Vila – a great and much needed Christmas present for the Hospital.  We are extremely grateful to Conmed Linvatec for supplying the unit to us at such a generous discount and to Kalgin Shipping for generously freighting the unit to Port Vila at no cost.

Thank you to all who came to the gardens on November 2nd to support our work, thank you to all those involved in the organisation of the event and especially to the Kershaws, Donoghues and Schwarzes for opening their gardens.
