Status: In Progress

After a major cyclone devastated parts of Sanma Province in northern Vanuatu, many school resources were lost or badly damaged. We will provide 17 schools with brand new literacy resource kits.

In April 2020 Cyclone Harold caused significant damage to the island of Espiritu Santo as well as the surrounding islands in Sanma Province. Their schools are in significant need of support to replace damaged and lost resources and equipment so their students can continue to access effective learning.

In partnership with Read Pacific, the MJF will provide 17 schools in Sanma Province with a $1,368 literacy resource kit. Each kit contains 5 copies of 71 different and culturally appropriate titles plus a teacher’s guide.

Replacing lost resources with new ones means that teaching and learning can continue effectively, even in cyclone-damaged classrooms.
