A positive and valued partnership with Vila East Primary School since 2012.

The Melanie Jewson Foundation has established a positive and valued partnership with Vila East Primary School over the years, supporting them to update literacy resources, consolidate cataloguing and storage of resources and refine assessment methods. Since 2014 we have donated over 3,000 books across multiple levels as well as a Literacy Benchmarking Kit for teachers.

In 2019 VEPS initiated the establishment of a Reading Resource Room for teachers to quickly access these resources to bolster their teaching program.

Supporting VEPS in this way has ensured that teachers have had the appropriate resources required to work effectively, improving both teaching and learning within the school.

2020 – 1,091 early years’ readers across 47 titles and 156 resource books for other learning areas through to early secondary.

2019 – 1,631 early years’ readers across 281 titles, 125 resource books for other learning areas through to early secondary and a Literacy Benchmarking Kit for teachers. The Literacy Benchmarking Kit enables the staff to review all the literacy resources in the school and position them accurately according to the reading level and individual needs of students.

2015 – 617 early years’ readers and 49 resource books for other learning areas through to early secondary.

2014 – 14 Big Books and 130 readers for the early years of learning.
