EOFY25: Clean Instruments Save Lives

With your help, when staff at Vanuatu’s provincial hospitals reach for surgical or procedural equipment, we can help to make sure it's completely sterile.

1 June 2025

Update: This campaign has now closed.

Over the last 5 years the Vanuatu Ministry of Health has been making great strides in improving their Healthcare Infection Prevention strategies, policies, and training, but it is impossible to implement these strategies without sufficient supplies.

In partnership with the Vanuatu Ministry of Health, we are so excited to provide the equipment necessary to sterilise medical and surgical equipment!

This year, the MJF will provide three 23L autoclaves to provincial hospitals across Vanuatu, where they are needed most.

An autoclave is like a high-powered steriliser that uses steam, heat, and pressure to eliminate harmful microorganisms. It’s used in hospitals and laboratories to ensure that instruments and equipment are completely free from bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores. By exposing items to high-pressure steam at very high temperatures, the autoclave ensures everything is thoroughly sterilised and safe to use again—protecting both professionals and patients.

With your help this EOFY, when staff at Vanuatu’s provincial hospitals reach for surgical or procedural equipment, we can help to make sure they are completely sterile and clean!

Proposed items:

Three 23L Autoclaves to be sent to the following hospitals:

  1. Northern Provincial Hospital (Santo)
  2. Norsup Hospital (Malekula)
  3. Quet Vaes Hospital (Torba)

Total cost: $16,929.00 ($5,643.00 ea).

As the end of financial year approaches, you can reduce your taxable income and at the same time make a lasting difference to those in need.

We understand that the rising cost of living in Australia has placed added financial pressure on households, but if you are in a position to do so, please consider contributing to this campaign. We are deeply grateful for any donations we receive.
